Out Now: Velvet Code’s Dreamer (AMG | Sony Music Entertainment)

Inspiring. Uplifting. Celebratory. The music of Velvet Code is electropop born of deep emotion and a longing for human connection. Dreamer is the second full-length studio album by Velvet Code and it was forged during a time of personal tragedy and deep personal loss. Velvet Code’s Dreamer (AMG | Sony Music Entertainment) album is out now.

“Break The Silence” is the first single off the Dreamer album. The song is an earworm that burrows its way into the listener’s mind upon first spin. Velvet Code’s buoyant vocals bounce deftly above his expert synthesizer riffs and driving electropop rhythm. Originally released in Canada in September 2018, “Break The Silence” has achieved more than 1.5 million streams across digital platforms including Spotify, YouTube and Apple Music. “Break The Silence” aims to remove some of the stigma surrounding issues of mental health and the song was inspired by Velvet Code’s own experiences battling anxiety.

“Mary Offered Ladybugs and Love Yous” is the second single off the Dreamer album and that song is currently charting at #27 on Billboard. Originally released in Canada in February 2019, “Mary Offered Ladybugs and Love Yous” is another strong effort from Velvet Code. This song evokes Robert Miles’ “Children” on the intro with its haunting acoustic piano. Immediately, Velvet Code’s anguished vocals seize the listener with an urgency impossible to ignore. The production gradually builds until the song erupts in a triumphant-sounding chorus. “Mary Offered Ladybugs and Love Yous” illustrates Velvet Code’s skill at crafting catchy hooks and the irresistible electropop production cuts through the airwaves to the core of music lovers’ hearts. Dreamer is a collection of nine original songs dedicated to Velvet Code’s late-father and it gathers stories from Velvet Code’s own life experiences. Though the recording of the album was heavily influenced by a period of emotional turmoil, the album’s goal is ultimately to lift and inspire all who hear it and remind people that there’s always positivity and light if we seek it.

Award-Winning Electro Pop Artist Velvet Code

New Single 'Break The Silence'

Musician addresses the subject of mental health with September 12 release

TORONTO, ON (September 12, 2018) - Award-winning Canadian electropop artist Velvet Code is thrilled to announce the September 12, 2018 release of his highly-anticipated first single “Break The Silence”, from his upcoming sophomore album. Collaborating with industry legend Wendy Starland (the woman responsible for developing and discovering Lady Gaga), “Break The Silence” is being billed as a confident follow-up to Code’s previously acclaimed work, which has been featured on hit television shows such asJersey Shore and The Hills

Fresh from signing with the revolutionary AWAL/Kobalt label (representing artists like David Guetta andR3HAB), Velvet’s new single aims to shine a light on the pressing issue of mental health. Throughout his career, the openly gay musician has dealt with varying degrees of depression and anxiety and hopes that messages in his Freddy Mercury, Depeche Mode and Imagine Dragons influenced music will help listeners going through difficult times.

“With this new single and album, I’ve reached deep into my soul to expose the truth about my life over the last number of years,” says Velvet. “When writing Break The Silence, I was dealing with issues surrounding my own self-worth — resulting in this release being the most brutally honest version of me. I hope that listeners can relate, gain clarity, and realize that they are not alone in their struggles.”

“Velvet Code combines the influences of infectious melodies from the 80’s with a modern edge,” says Wendy Starland. “There’s an awesome fan base waiting to sing along with these songs from the soul. Velvet Code is all heart.”

No stranger to main-stream media, Velvet Code has been praised by the likes of Perez Hilton, Pop Justice, and Digital Spy (among many others), and has toured with popular electropunk band Mindless Self Indulgence.
